In the past two years, our company has successfully accomplished every task we have had the pleasure to be a part of, and it shows! Our office staff has doubled in size and has allowed us to expand and proactively seek out new and exciting projects to add to our list of successes.

Who We Are

We would like to thank you for giving us the opportunity to demonstrate that we are truly well suited to provide the various Construction Solutions, such as Selective Demolition, Patch-Back Services, GPR - Rebar Locating, Extraction and Documentation of Structural Materials, just to name a few. Both our field and professional staff members are extremely familiar with the intricacies of all these projects with regard for scope, magnitude and complexity.  

Our Mission is to provide our clients with the highest quality, most efficient, accurate and cost effective approach to materials testing and inspection services even if we are not able to provide the inspection and/or testing. 

The first thing that makes us the best suited for your project is…

Because we understand “WHY”.  Our key team members have over 120 years of combined experience in providing Geotechnical Engineering, Materials Testing & Special Deputy Inspection services in the Southern California Area. We are a LA City and DSA Certified Laboratory.  We have our direction for sampling of material from a material testing laboratory engineer.  Your foreman will be trained in GPR to locate rebar. 

The second thing is we are a licensed contractor…

We also have a full licensed and insured B-licensed general contracting firm.  Most of the service required for these type of project we handle with our in-house staff.  Over the past several years we had the opportunity to work on several hospital material testing programs.  In the beginning, we would hire a general contractor to provide the selective demolition and the patching-back of the structural and architectural work disturbed by the sampling.  We found it was very hard to control the cost. Even though we did our due diligence and always explained because of the nature of the project please be sure to put in a contingency for the start and stops and the night work because of the noise we were constantly being hit by change orders because stops and starts. I always struggled with “How can I control the cost?” So in 2014 we opened Independent Construction Services, Inc. (ICS) so that we could provide the Selective Demolition, Patch-Back, and Testing at a reasonable and quantifiable cost.  

The third thing is we know “HOW”…

Unlike any other GC, I feel we would be the best firm to augment your preferred lab services on a project of this scope because we have a clear understanding of the reason we are extracting the samples, how to protect the samples, how to properly document the sample, etc.  

A common project we would provide would be for that of Selective Demolition and Patch-Back Services. For a project of this scope we would provide: 

1.       GPR - Rebar Locating

2.       Selective demolition to gain access to sample areas

3.       Extraction of structural materials samples

4.       Patching-back the structural and architectural work disturbed by the sampling

5.       Documenting and photographing of specimens. (Before and After) 

All activities will comply with local, State and Federal laws and regulations, including the JCAHO Interim Life Safely Measures (“ILSM’s”). Infection Control (“I.C.”) procedures appropriate to an occupied hospital will be stringently followed without exception.  We have a great understanding of the I.C. and OSHPD permit(s) needed. We work well with the both the Inspector of Record (“IOR”) and all OSHPD field personnel.
